ALBANY — Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie on Thursday will be traveling to DC to meet with members of New York’s Democratic congressional delegation to discuss state infrastructure needs pertaining to affordable housing and transportation and how they can help.

“We have many pressing needs, particularly when it comes to affordable housing and transportation,” Heastie said. “I am looking forward to speaking with the delegation about more (federal) funding for (the New York City Housing Authority) and the MTA along with other infrastructure funding,” Heastie said.

He said he also wants to talk about the importance of changing a provision in the federal tax law that eliminated most of the federal deductibility of state and local taxes.

"We have made so much progress in the first few weeks of our legislative session,” Heastie said. “Now I am looking forward to meeting with my colleagues who represent us in Washington to talk about the many challenges we face back home.”
