Electrical Associations
Eighteen representatives from the following associations/leagues attended this year’s
conference in Baltimore, Maryland:
    * British Columbia Electrical Association
    * Electric League of Indiana
    * Electric League of Maryland
    * Electric League of the Pacific NW
    * Electric League of Western Pennsylvania
    * Electrical Association of Rochester
    * The Electrical Board of Missouri & Illinois
    * Independent Electrical Contractors
    * Intermountain Electrical Association
    * Manitoba Electrical League
    * Nebraska Iowa Electrical Council
    * The Electrical Association of Chicago
    * The Electrical Association of Philadelphia

Those attending got to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones. They shared
valuable information and brought home ideas on Board Orientation Procedures, Association
Policies and Procedures, Retaining and Expanding Membership in the Current Economic
Climate, the Future of Trade Shows, as well as discuss the challenges Associations can
expect to face in the New Year.  Two guest speakers joined us to do presentations on Event
Liabilities and Association Technology Updates.

Our new
Board was elected during the Annual Membership Meeting and all were sworn in at
the Banquet on Friday evening.

Many associations/leagues presented their entries for “Best of Class” for the following award
categories:
    * Education - includes educational courses, seminars and/or meetings (either ongoing or
                one-time)
    * Membership - includes promotional efforts to market your association and/or it’s services
                to potential members
    * Potpourri - includes anything that doesn’t fit into one of the other categories.  It may be
                a new initiative into areas not yet categorized, a one-time administrative type
                program or an existing program not covered by any of the other categories.
    * Publications/Communications - includes promotional efforts to market your association
                and or it’s services to members.
    * Social/Networking - includes any activity that is designed to get people together either
                socially or in a networking program.
    * Trade Shows/Conferences - includes full-scale trade shows, conferences or expo’s.
    * Website - includes sites posted on the internet for access by anyone.
